Llamas as golf caddies

This image shows a llama (Buckaroo Banzai) "in training" to be a golf caddy. Training a llama to caddy is pretty simple -- it takes a calm llama though and you really need to know your golf course etiquette!

Golfing is just another form of packing. And packing is what llamas have been developed for, for centuries. So here's a chance for you to have a caddy who won't criticize your game, suggest when to use your Nine iron, won't keep score, and who'll be really quiet.

If you are interested in learning what is involved in training a llama to carry golf bags and clubs, there is an excellent booklet that can be gotten from Mt. Sopris Llamas. This booklet was written by the spouse of a golf pro, and thus contains a lot of useful information relating to how you might consider "training" the folks at the golf course, in addition to how you would train the llama!

You will need to plan on carrying TWO golf bags (to have a balanced load). In addition, we have found that those bags which work the best for this are those golf bags from which the strap can be detached, and which have rings at each end of the bag. This allows one to attach a special llama-pack golfing strap to hold the bag properly from the hard pack saddle. Golfing straps can be purchased from Mt. Sopris as well.
